At Amref International University (AMIU) in Nairobi, a new chapter in digital learning has begun. Through a new partnership with Snapplify, AMIU is offering students and faculty powerful digital access to the learning materials and academic tools they need to transform healthcare across Africa.
Building on a Legacy of Health Education
AMIU, founded in 2017 and owned by Amref Health Africa, has deep roots in training public-health professionals across Africa. It evolved from the Amref International Training Centre, which supported workforce development for over four decades.
Today, the university offers a wide range of academic programmes – from undergraduate degrees like Community Health Practice and Health Systems Management, to postgraduate, certificate and CPD courses. With a mission to drive equitable access to primary health care and a vision of lasting health change, AMIU remains focused on practical, evidence-based learning that directly impacts community health systems.
Enhancing Learning with Snapplify’s Digital Library
AMIU has adopted Snapplify’s Engage platform to provide a digital-library and e-learning experience that complements their curriculum and delivery model. With Snapplify, AMIU students now have flexible, secure access to:
Core textbooks and academic resources
AI tools that promote self-regulated learning
Collaborative annotations and device-sync features for faculty and students
Supporting Africa’s Future Health Workforce
This collaboration is about more than digitisation. It empowers AMIU to:
- Support learning on and off campus, accommodating remote and blended models
- Strengthen research and information literacy through easy access to curated content
- Equip graduates with the digital skills needed for today’s health environments
By investing in digital infrastructure, AMIU ensures its students are not just academically prepared but also technologically fluent – a key requirement for healthcare professionals in modern systems.
