Book Buddy awarded second place at Africa Skills Week by African Union

Snapplify’s learning support tool recognised among top innovations in Africa, highlighting commitment to education equity and multilingual access.

Snapplify’s AI-powered learning tool, Book Buddy, has been awarded second place in the African Union’s Innovating Education in Africa programme – announced at Africa Skills Week 2025 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Chosen from more than 700 innovations from across the continent, Book Buddy was recognised for its role in helping learners better understand their schoolwork, especially in schools where teacher-to-learner ratios are high. The tool’s multilingual design ensures learners can study in their home language, which is key to boosting comprehension, confidence, and performance.

“Book Buddy bridges the gap in classrooms where students need support beyond what stretched teachers can offer - and does so in a way that’s accessible, inclusive, and rooted in how learners actually learn.”

African-led recognition with global alignment

Africa Skills Week 2025, hosted by the African Union, is a flagship platform to elevate scalable innovations that address skills development, sustainability, and education equity.

This recognition follows Snapplify’s broader inclusion by UNESCO for our digital library work, reinforcing our commitment to UN SDG 4: Quality Education for All and our mission to ensure no learner is left behind.

The second-place honour comes with financial support, continental visibility, and inclusion in the Africa Education Innovations Handbook 2025, distributed across AU Member States.
