Sponsorship opportunities to bolster South Africa’s education sector
‘Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today,’ said Malcolm X. While South Africans have been granted the right to education, great inequalities within the education system prevent many young people from receiving the quality education they deserve. The digital divide – that is, the rift between those who have access to ICT and those who do not – deepens this educational inequality further. Implementing ICT in South African schools not only improves teaching and learning, but also prepares students for an ever-demanding 21st-century labour market and their participation in civil society. Snapplify is making it easier for companies and non-profit organisations to make a difference in literacy and education by providing high-quality, accessible e-learning solutions to schools and students that need them.
A standard Snapplify sponsorship package includes access to the full suite of Snapplify Engage e-learning tools, and a library content bundle, compiled for the school according to their needs and reading levels. This content comprises relevant, local reading materials in all official South African languages, as well as world-class educational content (prescribed and supplementary) from renowned local and international publishers. Companies can elect to add laptop/tablet devices, and/or a Snapplify Snappbox, a hardware solution for content distribution that tackles connectivity challenges.‘Nowadays, digital literacy is critically important – and access to e-learning allows for improved educational outcomes, as well as the development of key skills. Snapplify has already lowered barriers to access for many schools by launching Engage Basic – a free version of our e-learning platform. Now, we’re particularly excited to be offering companies an easy way to add growth to schools that may have already made strides in e-learning adoption but who do not have the funds to take their e-learning journey to the next level,’ said Snapplify’s Penny de la Plain.
Snapplify’s CSI initiative is in line with the regional goals of government stakeholders, as well as other international initiatives that work to bridge the digital divide by implementing ICT solutions in schools. Snapplify has been recognised internationally, winning multiple awards for their innovations in technology. In 2017 and again in 2019, Snapplify was acknowledged by the London Stock Exchange Group as one of their Companies to Inspire Africa. The company has been included in continental growth conversations with government ministers (regional and national), as well as policy makers within the African Union and the United Nations.
