Cape Town, South Africa – 23 September 2025 – Book Buddy, Snapplify’s AI-powered reading assistant, has been recognised as one of the Top 10 Innovations in the African Union’s Innovating Education in Africa (IEA) 2025 programme.
This recognition highlights the growing impact of inclusive, digital tools in supporting literacy and access to quality education. Book Buddy was selected from over 730 entries across the continent for its innovative approach to reading support, local language inclusion, and AI-powered learning assistance.
The African Union’s IEA programme identifies scalable solutions that address challenges in access, equity, quality, and relevance in African education systems. As a Top 10 finalist, Book Buddy will advance to a semi-final pitch, with further opportunities for support and collaboration with governments and education leaders across Africa.
“Every learner deserves access to tools that unlock their potential,” said Wesley Lynch, CEO of Snapplify. “Book Buddy is designed to do just that — whether a child is learning in their mother tongue, facing literacy barriers, or accessing books for the first time. This recognition from the African Union validates our mission and pushes us to go further.”
Book Buddy will be featured in the Africa Education Innovations Handbook 2025, receive visibility across AU member states, and access new channels for scaling and partnership.
This milestone builds on Snapplify’s work to create equitable, sustainable education outcomes. With a focus on UNESCO education goals, Snapplify continues to build partnerships that improve literacy and deliver high-quality, locally relevant digital resources.
